Rita Halász was born in 1980 in Budapest. She is a writer and art historian. Her debut novel Mély levegő (Deep Breath) was published in Hungarian in 2020. Compared to Scenes from a Marriage, it tells the story of Vera who is drowning in her marriage when, after a violent argument, she moves away from her husband with her two young children. Deep Breath was awarded the Hungarian Margó Prize for Best Debut Work.
