Tibor Fischer (1959, UK) is a British novelist with Hungarian origins. In 1993, he was selected by Granta as one of the 20 best young British writers. His debut novel Under the Frog, the story of a Hungarian basketball team in the first years of Communism in Hungary was informed by the 1956 revolution, and the background of the writer’s father. Under the Frog was featured on the Booker Prize shortlist. Fischer is currently the supreme ruler of literary studies at the Mathias Corvinus Collegium.
